In the early days, there were only a few…
Florida, Texas, and California being among the first. Followed by Nevada, Pennsylvania, and, somewhat bizarrely, Arkansas and Oklahoma.
Then came the likes of Colorado, Connecticut, Kentucky, Michigan, Minnesota, Missouri, North and South Carolina, Virginia, and Wisconsin.
And before long states like Georgia, Illinois, Massachusetts, New York, New Jersey, Tennessee, and even Vermont were suddenly home to not just one — but two or more — venues with publicly accessible padel courts.
Now you can add Ohio, Rhode Island, Utah, and (soon) Montana to that list…
This is thanks to the likes of:
Pedro Bautista and his team who have brought padel to the greater Salt Lake City area with a new three-court indoor facility known as SLC Padel Club…
The Royce Family Fund, who donated roughly $400,000 to bring the first-ever municipal padel facility to the U.S. in Westerly, RI, and…
Beemok Sports & Entertainment, the unit of Beemok Capital that owns and operates the high-profile pro tennis tournament known as the Cincinnati Open, which built two padel courts in Mason, OH, as part of a $260 million renovation of the Lindner Family Tennis Center, where the tournament is held.
Beemok Sports & Entertainment is also responsible for bringing the first (and currently only) padel court to Charleston, SC, at LTP Daniel Island, which is the home of the women’s pro tennis tournament they own and operate, known as the Credit One
Charleston Open.
Speaking of Charleston, it’s worth noting that the other Charleston (in West Virginia) is now home to a padel court at the storied Edgewood Country Club and rumor has it there are plans to add several more in the not-to-distant future.
However, since that court is for ECC members only, for now there are still 16 states without publicly accessible padel courts.
